But, in reality, if you do not restrict fat intake, never limit calorie intake, but just restrict carbs, protein intake takes care of itself without having to count grams.

Just my experience as a woman of 60. I can no longer gain muscle unless I get about 140g of protein/day. I am 5’7".
I suspect height and genetics play a role as does hormonal status.
