Type 2 diabetes: Easily and readily reversible for the majority

Michelle’s experience in reversing out-of-control type 2 diabetes to becoming NON-diabetic illustrates just how quickly and easily this condition can be reversed in most people.

Today is my 2 year Wheat Belly anniversary. I am so grateful to Dr. Davis, April, the people behind the scenes and the friends I’ve made along the way.

“I had gotten the news that I had diabetes and a fatty liver among other things. I had an A1C of 9.1!

“That very day I was on Facebook and I saw a Wheat Belly ad. I didn’t know anything about it but I looked it up and it piqued my interest, so I joined the group and bought the Kindle Wheat Belly 10-Day Grain Detox book that very day and told my husband we were going to do it. I read the book in 5 hours. The best thing I have ever done for myself ever!

“My A1C went down to 5.6 in 3 months and my liver enzymes went to the low side of normal! Within a couple days my IBS [irritable bowel syndrome] went away and so did my acid reflux. No more meds for those right away and I immediately had to wean myself from BP meds. The doctor kept me on diabetes meds for 6 months because that’s the protocol, but by 6 months my A1C was 5.2. After 6 months I was off all meds! My 9 month A1C was 4.9 with NO meds.

“I lost 50 lbs and rashes, diabetes, heartburn, high blood pressure, fatty liver, and whatever else I had are GONE! All while getting off meds. I am hanging strong. My A1C has not gone above 5.0. I am not going to die or lose a limb or have to get dialysis from diabetes!

“If you are new and struggling, hang in there. You don’t even know what grains and sugar are doing to your body until you are through Detox. Then you will know and you will get it. It’s not your fault that it is so hard. It really isn’t. The only way to find out is DO THE 10 DAY DETOX. Don’t cheat. Somethings you’ll mess up. That’s why there’s the Facebook page. You will not be 100% perfect at first because you don’t know what you don’t know. But you DO know 15 carbs per 6 hours and no sugar, wheat or grains. And no processed foods. And just keep reading and keep coming here. It will come quick. Here’s to better health for everyone!

“Oh, and hubby did it with me and lost over 30 lbs, too! AND his good HDL cholesterol went up!”

(For perspective, a HbA1c of 5.7% or greater is classified as pre-diabetes, while HbA1c of 6.5% or greater is considered type 2 diabetes. I would regard an ideal HbA1c, i.e., one that frees you of ALL excess risk associated with this measure, as 5.0% or less. Most of us living the Wheat Belly lifestyle, like Michelle, enjoy HbA1c’s in the ideal range.)

The entirety of the Wheat Belly lifestyle reverses type 2 diabetes so easily because:

  • We eliminate foods that raise blood sugar and insulin, namely wheat, grains, and sugars. The reduction in blood sugar is so quick that most people have to cut their insulin and/or diabetes drugs in half within the first 24 hours.

  • We eliminate the source of gliadin-derived opioid peptides that are appetite stimulants, thereby putting you back in control over eating habits. People lose the constant, gnawing hunger they previously endured, only eating a meal or two per day without effort.

  • We reverse inflammation that formerly amplified insulin resistance

  • We take additional steps to reverse insulin resistance–We restore vitamin D, iodine, and magnesium. We achieve ideal thyroid status. We cultivate healthy bowel flora. Each and every strategies contributes to improving insulin responses and reducing insulin resistance, allowing both insulin and blood sugars to drop precipitously.

I’m sure that Michelle did not completely reverse her diabetes on the advice of her doctor, as they are notoriously useless for doing this. Her doctor choose instead to pile toxic drug upon toxic drug, whether for reducing blood sugar, reducing blood pressure, reducing heartburn, or reducing “cholesterol.” Yet Michelle reversed all the phenomena associated with her diabetes back to normal, no drugs required. Unlike prescription drugs used to reduce blood sugar that do not prolong life, not having diabetes any longer is a huge advantage in longevity, likely adding up to 8 years to her lifespan.

As I often say, you can do a far better job than the doctor when given some benign, effective guidance.
