I’ve had six bone density scans, 5 on a Hologic machine and the most recent one on a Lunar machine.  Although my BMD scores all went UP from two years ago, my T-scores went down.  That doesn’t make sense, does it?  The T-score standard deviation chart should not change because it’s not affected by my age.

So I did a little research and found there can be a difference in T-scores between these two machines for the same BMD because the reference populations they use to develop the T-score standard deviations can be different. Here is a summary of a study on this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15647812

Anyone have any information on this?  I’m inclined to say that the improved BMD measurements indicate improvement.  That valid?

Thanks!
Linda
