I thought this deserved its own thread.  Looks like it is coming soon. We are on the verge of phase one trials of genetically modifying humans.

CRISPR technology is an extremely accurate gene splicing tool. Gene splicing? Get into the nucleus of one of your cells, unravel a piece of your DNA, break it apart at a particuliar spot, then delete or add something. Accurate? You certainly don’t want this tool running amock in your body doing whatever gene editing it pleases, or who knows what you will become.
So you put this specifically programmed gene splicer into your body somehow. How do you get it inside your cells and into their nuclei?  Well that’s simple!  Just put the gene splicer into a virus. Viruses can get into almost anything.  So you take an adenovirus, (no that’s not a zika virus), and inject your CRISPR gene splicer into the adenovirus, and Voila! a genetically modified human. Any volunteers?

And no this is not science fiction. Its Harvard Medical School Research.  Come up to the lab and see what is on the slab. http://www.lifeextension.com/Lpages/2016/CRISPR/index

Moderator note 2023-09-23: basenote date revised as a side effect of getting this older thread re-assigned to a more topical Inner Circle forum.
