I bought magnesium 500MG pills vs. magnesium malate and I was wondering is there much of a difference between the two?  Also, I believe the recommended dosage for magnesium malate is 1200 mg twice per day.   Should I be taking the same amount of Magnesium?

Thanks in advanced.

There are many kinds of magnesiums out there, mag citrate, mag taurate, etc. I recommend that you pick up a copy of Dr. Carolyn Dean's book The Magnesium Miracle. It will answer all of your questions on magnesium.

You should base your dose on the amount of magnesium in whatever you are taking, not the size of the capsule.

Even the RBC magnesium levels may be an inaccurate reflection of magnesium levels in muscles and other parts of the body, but it's currently all we have.
