Even the NYT accidentally reports important news from time to time. In addition to the recent comments I had on PCSK9 inhibitors, we have this keystone block that Big Pharma™ needed to have in place prior to opening the new bridge from statins to P9s.

Federal Panel Backs Approval of New Drug to Fight Heart Attacks
"...
The agency says that if it approves the drugs based on their effects on cholesterol, the approval will not be rescinded even if trials now underway fail to show the drugs reduce the risk of heart attacks and deaths.
..."

As Peter over at Hyperlipid remarks (on the wider concern with P9s):
"Nothing changes. We’ll have to wait to see the body counts."
