My husband has a very large kidney stone, second since April, he's on Plavix, and he has drug eluding stents.  Urologist says he has to go off Plavix for 7 days before any procedures.  He's been on Plavix for about 6 years now.  Anyone know what the risks are, heart-wise, in going off it for a week or so?

Also, his vitamin D level was really low - 27 - so he went on 8000 IU D3 gel caps.  I shamelessly nagged him until he got his doc to retest - 97 - which is a little high, right?  He's gone down to 6000 IU, but just in the last week or so.  I've heard conflicting reports about whether the high D levels could be a contributing factor.  Dr. Cannell (sp) website says no - stones caused by oxolate, not calcium.  Anybody have any further info on that?

He's had kidney stones before this year, but very infrequently - 3 in about 30 years.

Thanks for any guidance/information you can provide.

Thanks, ptheut.  He just had an xray with contrast this morning to see where it is and what it is doing.  Hoping his kidneys are OK.

I agree with the magnesium/B6/K2 suggestion. Maybe also try Chanca Piedra: http://www.rain-tree.com/chanca.htm

Linda,

Sorry to read about your husband.  Hope that all goes well.

I too have read conflicting reports about Vit D.  Can't add anything to what others posted.
