I recently started following what was happening in the space of continuous glucose monitoring. My thought was - if it’s worthwhile for those of us doing the Undoctored/Wheat Belly way of life to check our blood glucose to ensure it’s staying nice and flat - would it not be worthwhile having continuous data rather than having intermittent data points from glucose meters.

In another forum thread I found a podcast that Bob recommended featuring Peter Attia, who did an experiment wearing a Dexcom CGM as a non-diabetic. After listening to that podcast I was convinced: to me, it seems like a CGM could be the single most important wearable a non-diabetic person could have - perhaps more so than a Fitbit or Apple watch.

With realtime data measuring a person’s glucose response to different foods - which will differ from person to person based on their own physiological and microbiome configuration - people can make informed choices about their intake with almost instant feedback. If done properly, a well designed system could have a "social" aspect to it, which would allow people to compete with their friends that have the same thing - how many days have you kept your blood glucose below 110? (or something like that). Gamification and streak tracking of blood glucose could be a game changer.

Turns out there is a new (newish) company that is developing such a system. Levels Health is their name. It looks like they are gearing up to target CGM to non-diabetics with the intent of achieving improved metabolic health. I just came across a new podcast featuring the founder of the company. I don’t know if Levels Health is on the radar of anyone else here, so I just thought I’d point it out in case anyone else is interested in CGM as a personal wearable.

They are still in beta with a long waitlist, so it’s not available for purchase yet. (Frustrating given my newfound excitement and enthusiasm for wanting one!) I started following them on Twitter and I’m keeping my eye out for news on when they are launching.

Here is the podcast featuring the founder of Levels Health: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/04-building-40k-person-waitlist-problem-solving-like/id1534140443?i=1000496081432
