I have a few questions that I have not seen covered on this subforum, the Cureality afib track, or the afibbers guides.

1. Atrial Flutter: Is it correct to assume that most of the information about AFib applies to Flutter?

2. Is my flutter any less dangerous than AFib?

3. Episodes: Wait, what episodes? I have been mostly in a.flutter for three months. It does not appear to stop. The only med my cardiologists will give me is metoprolol (and xarelto). It slows my atrial rate by about 20 bpm (from 115-ish to 90’s, mostly). However, it does not appear to do anything for the flutter.

4. My E.P. thinks that cardioversion won’t stop it. He wants to damage my heart (ablation) without understanding the cause of my arrhythmia (and whether or not it is reversible). A few months ago, this same E.P. was determined that I needed a pacemaker (for asymptomatic pauses). If I listened to this guy, I would have had two invasive, somewhat damaging, procedures done on my heart this year... and I have no confidence that he is even close to being on the right track.

This puts me in the uncomfortable position of having to second guess experts who are supposed to understand this stuff better than I do. I’m an engineer, pretty good at figuring stuff out, but I am out of my depth here.

5. How much of a problem is it that I seem to be in flutter full time, for several months? Should I insist on cardioversion? Rhythm medication? Or is it "safe" to pursue the advice here (and maybe afibbers) without worrying about the full-time flutter (other than taking xarelto)?

Background:
 - No symptoms.
 - Resting wrist pulse is steady-ish 60’s-70’s. I only know about the fast atrial rate by pulse oximeter. The flutter diagnosis comes from ECG and 30-day wearable monitor.
 - I have been following the Undoctored plan for six months. Before that I followed more ad-hoc low carb (total of one year so far).
 - Have been doing weights and cardio, including HIIT for a year.
 - 62 yo male, formerly athletic, lifelong insulin resistant, now fat and out of shape. Got turned on to low carb by Virta’s TED talk a year ago. Have been learning and regaining my health since.
 - I live in a rural area, so it is not easy to see a different cardiologist for another opinion. Would have to travel several hours to do so.
