The last few months I’ve been having an odd feeling in my heart...usually at night but sometimes during the day.
It’s a feeling of flipping or like my heart stops and starts again. I told my new PCP about it and she did an EKG
and came rushing into the room telling me my EKG was not normal (scared the begeesus out of me)
and I needed to have an earlier EKG sent to
her for comparison.  Turns out I have inverted T rhythms(?) which it seems is normal for some people.  (PS There
should be a place where this kind of info is stored for easy access by Docs so if you are taken to a hosp. anywhere
in the country or out...they can get this info on you easily, IMO...even on a health card you carry with you).  Anyway
I’ve never been told I have Inverted T, so I didn’t know to tell her it was normal for me.

Back to my main issue.  These sensations are such that I’m not even sure what I’m feeling.  At first I thought maybe it was gas.
Last night while quasi-asleep I had a strong sensation...it was like my heart had stopped and had a sudden re-start.
Again tho it’s not just at night so it’s not apnia.  Sometimes it’s just little flips and sometimes a big flip like last nite.
I haven’t had it happen in a month or so til last night. You know how sometimes you might wake yourself up with a
sudden intake of air from a snore...it’s kinda like that but not exactly.

A recent event compounds this. I took an endoral (beta blocker?) because I had to give a talk, and my doc once gave me an Rx
to calm my nerves on such occasions.  About an hour later I had a pain in my heart area just above the bottom of my sternum,
accompanied by some serious stomach gas which persisted for a couple of days.  I was walking my 3 mile course and had to
stop (not normal for me).  Felt like a bug of some sort.  The feeling comes back off and on with the gas.  Could this be angina?
Doesn’t just happen with exercise tho.

Thanks for your help with this...sorry it’s so long, but felt that I needed to tell the whole story.
L

sounds like simple PVC's.  I felt similar things until I added Mag and more potassium to my list.

Ask your PCP for a Holter Monitor.

My husband got rid of his rhythm pauses with taurine 1 g three times a day. It's possible he needed it, whereas you do not, of course. I think taurine modulates calcium signaling, and keeps potassium and magnesium in the cell and sodium out.

Great info everyone.  I am much more at ease with these events now and will talk to the doc about the event monitor. Thanks all. Laura

My husband and I both use taurine daily and are very happy with its usefulness in calming our heart rhythms. As for the comment I made in 2013, I was trying to understand why taurine was so effective. I’m afraid that’s as far as I got with it!
